The Canyon Police Department provides law enforcement services for the City of Canyon based upon professional-best practices adopted by the Texas Law Enforcement Agency Recognition Program. The Canyon Police Department was granted State Recognition status February 20, 2008.

Recently retired Chief Bobby Griffin maintained a professionally trained and disciplined Police Department serving the citizens of Canyon for 23 years.  Canyon City Manager Randy Criswell appointed Lieutenant Dale Davis as the new Police Chief for the City of Canyon at a Commission Meeting October 5, 2009.  Chief Davis has served the Canyon Community for 29 years with the Canyon Police Department and looks forward to the continued quality of service from his department.
